Reality Bites Martial Arts
I became aware of Eddie Quinn's The Approach structure by word of mouth from a number of people who's opinions I have tremendous respect for. On further research I came across some footage of The Approach on 'Youtube' which grabbed my attention. Many martial artists talk of the application of 'weapons systems' to empty hand fighting and from my background in martial arts and as a Real Contact Stick Fighter I recognised the potential of Downward 8 motion that is developed when using sticks, knives and swords.
On purchasing Eddies DVD's I studied them considerably, researching the 'Entry System' with my students and training partners.
Those who had previous stick/weapon experience took to it with gusto but what was more impressive was the speed at which those with little or no experience could develop the hand, eye & foot co-ordination along with the power required to take control of a self-defence situation and totally dominate their attacker.
Having now completed the Level 1 Instructors course it has become clear that with its heavy influence from Silat Fitrah, The Approach is more than just another 'quick fix' self-defence system but a living, breathing martial art in its own right.
Whether you are a beginner looking for a martial art to take up or an experienced martial artist looking for MORE then give The Approach a look. You will not be disappointed.

I came to The Approach as a 54 year old with 'tired' knees and an open mind.
I'd trained with Eddie once before and really liked his no nonsense approach to teaching and training.
Having seen the first dvd of 'The Approach I was hooked and signed up for the training.
I can't say the four hour sessions passed by in a blur, more a steady grinding down.
But I loved it and kept coming back for more.
Having been accepted onto the first Instructors training course I am proud to say that in Novemner 2009
I passed as an instructor in The Approach under Eddie's careful scrutiny.
Would I recommend the training to the older student - yes, unquestionably so.
As an Osteopath and former Aikdo instructor at Coventry University I recognise Eddie's ability to
tune in to the needs and capabilities of his students in an uncanny way;
this includes knowing how far to safely push the older student.

Wayne Hubball
My name is Wayne Hubball a 38 year old Managing Director from Sutton Coldfield. I have always trained regularly in the gym and was introduced to “The Approach” via a seminar by Gura Muda Eddie Quinn in November 08.
The seminar was dynamic and fluid, I have never seen an Instructor with so much enthusiasm who could captivate a room full of people with varying levels of experience for 3 hours, his personality and outgoing teaching style is infectious and you can’t help but feel a connection with him after being in his presence for only a few minutes.
After the seminar I was totally hooked on “The Approach” and wanted to learn more and did two further seminars with Gura Muda Eddie before he announced that he was running a Level 1 Instructors Course. I tentatively asked Gura Muda Eddie if I would be eligible to enrol on the course because of my lack of experience in martial arts, but I really wanted to learn more and to my joy was accepted. Eddie teaches at a very high level and has a high standard of what he expects from his Instructors and you knew from the very start, if you didn’t make the grade you wouldn’t pass.
The course has taught me many things about myself; I now have greater confidence in myself and in defending myself, I have a more indepth understanding of my body mechanics and my whole outlook on life has changed for the better.
Unlike any other martial arts that I have studied “The Approach” is realistic and gives you a real way of safe guarding yourself, family and friends from both physical, verbal and weapon attacks in today’s violent society.
I would like to thank Gura Muda Eddie Quinn for his time, his spiritual and mental insight and for introducing me to “The Approach” martial arts family.
